Safari (Sierra) has weird URL banner

    Hi,

    What is this attached screenshot?

Its a URL banner that appears under my tabs bar and all
it has is the URL of the site I'm visiting.

    So annoying!

    What good is it?

How do I get rid of it?

    Thanks!

Er, that is a standard control on all internet browsers. It allows you to type in URLs should you need too. I'm not sure if it can be removed, but I'm also not sure why you would want to.

Safari (Sierra) has weird --additional-- URL banner below tabs

    @ JezzerP

    You misunderstand.

I'm not referring to the standard URL field that appears at the top of any browser
and that one needs in order to enter site addresses.

I'm referring instead to what appears below the tab bar.

    Please see these images:

I have the ability to collapse this 2nd URL bar/field/whatever you call it
to the left, as shown in the 2nd image.

But I don't want it, or need it.

It only arrived [I]after[I] I upgraded my Yosemite to Sierra.

    So ... thoughts?
