my iphone 4s gets pretty warm! Can someone explain?
hello there! 2 days ago i purchased my iphone 4s and i must say it, apple did a great job. Thing is that i've seen that it gets warm (not hot though) when im browsing or playing a game (or use siri). I had an iphone 3g before and it didn't get that warm when being used like that. Is this normal for the 4s? I know that it has a very strong CPU but hell i thought i should still ask about this! I just wanna know if it's normal.
Thank you!

My 4 get warm when used. Add in cpu usuage and battery current drain and you get heat as a wasted energy.
Seasons greetings.

I can't compare myself, as I have a iPhone regular 4..
What I do know they run a little warmer, but don't that it is an issue right at
the moment..
While battery life can effect warmth, the last 2 betas have helped the
battery life, epically the current one....
Now if you can't hold on to it cuz it's too hot, maybe bad unit, or,
you are using it more often then you think you are with the Siri
and all....
Just a thought....

iPhone 4S overheating issue
Also faster chip speed speed as well makes it run a little warmer...
Overcharging as well, believe it or not...

Several iPhone 4S users have reported that iPhone 4S gets abnormally hot. Under regular conditions, your iPhone should be cool; however, it is normal for it to get warm when charging and under heavy use. If you experience your iPhone 4S getting too hot, you may try the following suggestions:
Reset network settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If this does not work
Do a hard reset by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously for about ten seconds until you see the Apple logo.
If this still does not work
You may try restoring your iPhone.

I can understand it warming up when playing games, but not when browsing. Games will make the chip work the hardest, particularly if they are graphically intensive. The phone will have to expel excess heat through the shell seeing there are no fans to keep it cool like a pc or laptop. Are you seeing the warning Scott posted? If not, then the phone is operating within tolerances, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about. But I would keep an eye on things and try and note exactly what apps you are using when it gets hot. If its consistently the same apps, then it really should be reported to the developers that their software is making this particular model iPhone get hot. You can do this via an app store review I guess.

Don't worry about this problem because if you are playing game in your iPhone 4S, it takes more battery power and its processor is tends to get a little warm. Usually, this problem disappears after you use the phone for a few months.

As far as I am concerned, the issue is mute...
I wouldn't worry about it anymore what with all the betas coming out..Mac Pro '06
