Hi,

I'm new to Apple & have a MacBook Pro. My hard drive crashed three weeks ago when I was trying to close a video I was watching! No one knows why this happened.

Apple authorised company replaced the drive, but now my system freezes OFTEN , especially when I'm editing new photos in iPhoto.

I use Carbonite to backup files because it does so automatically and stores on their server. Have 100s of photos and will continue to increase the number. I've used Carbonite for months and system has been a tad slow, but now with new hard drive it is much worse (see previous paragraph)

Went to Apple store today and they think problem is Carbonite. New hard drive is ok. Carbonite hasn't made any fabulous suggestions.

Has anyone had this experience using Carbonite? What solution has worked for you?

Obvious way to check this is to cancel or uninstall the Carbonite backup system temporarily and see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't, then you obviously have another hardware problem, but we'll cross that bridge if we need to!!

I'm afraid I don't use any type of online backup service, as I run a Mac and Windows Server system at home and do local backups, but at $59 per year for unlimited storage that's a pretty good deal.
