2007 mac mini as a pure windows 8 machine

    Hey all, first post here.

I've been trying to find information on the correct way to totally convert an older Mac mini to a full win 8 machine and all I can find is how to share OSX and Windows. I don't want dual boot, last time I tried Bootcamp with Lion it locked me out of the system completely, no recovery, no online recovery and no repair utility would get it to boot, couldn't access time machine and I had to swap drives to get it going again with a previous Snow Leopard install) so I'm not going through that headache again.

Is there a guide on what to do to wipe and fresh install just windows? What format to use, how to do it etc. I've searched all over and couldn't find anything specific to what I want. Any ideas?

It really depends on who you believe. Some report that it 'should' be possible just to boot from the Windows DVD and let it do its stuff. However, having done some snooping, you may run into some 'issues' with drivers and the computer fans running continuously. I can't find anything about Windows 8....presumably because it has only been out for a few days!!

However, this report from 2009 suggests that Windows 7 can not boot directly on a Mac Mini....a bit geeky this one!

Only way to find out is give it a go!!

Now, why on earth would someone want to convert a Mac to Windows only? The existence of Apple itself is to GET AWAY from Windows. Wait a minute...did you get that Mini fer free?
