I have a old Macbook pro that is on last leg and i am trying to transfer a few select files to a Macbook. I start the Macbook pro with t depressed, connect firewire to Macbook and Harddrive symbol in orange appears on desktop on macbook but when I click on it it is the files of the macbook not the Pro. What A'm I doing wrong?

I'm not too sure how you're proceeding but when I transfer files from one computer to another I'll use special software like Splashtop or a Dropbox or CDs or DVDs or an external hard drive. The last being my favorite since it's networked.(NAS)

I suppose you must connect the two macs with the firewire cable and then do the following:

    1) Start the Mac (the one you want to use as an external drive) by holding down the T key. Stop when firewire drive appear on the desktop. Once it shows up you can access any of the data from Source Mac.

    2) To disconnect from firewire drag the Mac (ex drive) to the trash.

    Hope this hels you.

Mobikin Assistant for iOS (Mac Version) could realize transferring multiple types of files, including music, movie, photos, books and so on from iOS devices to Mac computer.
