Well I'm glad we seem to be getting somewhere

A few things to bare in mind however :
    • Time Machine runs a back up every hour. It has no native way of scheduling the time of those backups.
    • I have not used the TimeMachineEditor software, so I can't vouch for it's effectiveness.
    • Seeing your Lacie is attached to the iMac, if you turn the iMac off the Lacie will also be unavailable....if you MacBook tries to perform a back when the iMac is off, it will fail.
    • There ARE other backup options available to Mac owners. Carbon Copy Cloner and DejaVu are ones I have used in the past.
    Carbon Copy Cloner - Home
    Déjà Vu

    I
f anything, I think Carbon Copy Cloner is possibly more powerful than Time Machine, it certainly has all the scheduling features missing in TM, and can even back up to Windows machines.

The Macbook seems to be showing the oldest, latest and next backup in the application box !! It was a little tricky, but you got it working for me. I truly thank you for yoiur efforts and EXTREME patience. I understand about the Imac considerations and I will consider the other back up candidates. At least I know I can do it wirelessly. The TimeMachine Editor gives more flexibility in the schedule. I may use that. Thanks again.

Since I still have your ear. I just picked up an Apple TV. I got it hooked up yesterday. everything seemed to go alright, but aI had no time to play anything from my Macbook. I asked the Apple employee if I could play DVD movies on my Macbook and watch them on my TV. Is that possible ? I see no mention of that ability, but I have not tried it. I thought it simply mirrored what was on my Macbook display.
