Apple bringing new interactions between iOS devices

Apple keeps working on making interacting with their devices be more natural and this can be seen from their latest patents that have been published by the United States Patent & Trademark Office. The new patents show in the utmost detail new multi-touch gestures based on physical metaphors that will enable users to share files between different iOs devices by the means of flicking objects outside the screen boundaries, pouring content from one device into another. The new gestures will be using your device’s many sensors, namely the accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope, in order to determine its physical position relative to other devices in the vicinity bringing such interactions to a hole new level, making interactions between iPads and iPhone a truly delightful experience.
This could finally mean the end of the current lack of and easy way to share files amongst Apple devices. The current options provided are highly limited, requiring a computer running something like iTunes syncing, iTunes File Sharing or running a WebDAV server on the device to wirelessly share app documents through a web interface in desktop browser. Also coming this autumn Apple will be launching the free iCloud online service and new iOS APIs letting third-parties to build apps that can share private documents across devices via the user’s iCloud data base. There is also the possibility that future iOS devices will have displays that will enable users to create 3D objects and worlds by using simple 3D gesturing that wont require to be in direct contact. We can see this being highly useful in content creation software such as CAD and 3d modeling.
These are innovations that we should be really looking forward too as Apple is in the process of forever changing the way we interact with our devices.
