Apple’s problem with the missing multi-user support from the iPad is being investigat

A while ago, Apple received a “bug report” from a developer which prompted them to acknowledge the evident lack of multi-user support on the iPad. The issue is known by Apple and the company’s engineering department is investigating it. Multiple users support has never been offered to users of the iPhone and iPod, but then again these are not exactly devices you would want to share with others.

The idea behind the concept is that the tablet is a gadget that should be shared by the entire family, but of course between wife and husband, father and daughter differences might arise. That’s why the idea of using different accounts is a very viable one. Back in the early stages of development, Apple was considering using front-facing cameras for face recognition so that users could login in a fast and reliable way. Different users would have the ability to leave “sticky notes” for each other on the same device.

Some speculations about the multi feature being incorporated into the first prototypes of the iPad circled around the Internet for some time, but somehow users never got to enjoy them. More than that, the original version of the iPad was launched without a front-facing camera, putting an end to the multi-user plan theories.

So far this bug fix request has been the only one to get a proper answer from Apple, but the company is not known for leaving problems unfixed, so in the near future you can be pretty sure that you and your family will live separate lives in the kingdom of the iPad.
