Apple Set to Release Thinner, Lighter MacBook Pro With Retina Display

9to5 Mac has a massive in-depth news story today about Apple’s forthcoming revamp of the 15-inch MacBook Pro, which it says will be arriving in stores this summer, and will have an ultra-thin design, a “jaw-dropping” Retina Display, and lightning speed USB 3. 9to5 Mac says that contrary to recent rumours, the new 15-inch MacBook Pro will not be similar to, or identical to, the design of last year’s MacBook Air; rather, it will basically look like an ultra-thin version of previous MacBook Pros, being thinner, yet also tougher, and without any MacBook Air-style tapering. However, 9to5 Mac says that it does borrow some elements from the MacBook Air range, such as having a power button on the keyboard itself, replacing the disc eject key, which is now no longer necessary as this new Pro will not have an optical drive. Other than that, 9to5 Mac says that the basic design of this new MacBook Pro will be very similar to that of previous models in the range. One of the most exciting aspects of the new Pro is that according to 9to5 Mac’s sources in the Far East, it will mark the introduction of the Mac Retina Display, which the sources say is “definitely the most important Mac innovation in years.” Apparently the new Pro will have multiple Retina resolution modes, to enable the user to adjust the sharpness and size of images as they see fit. Let’s hope these reports are accurate because this sounds fantastic!
