13-Inch Retina MacBook Pro Expected in Early October

I know that with the launch this week of Apple’s new 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro, many of you have been hoping that Apple would also introduce a 13-inch version of the Retina Display MacBook Pro. Well AppleInsider has some great news today on this particular issue, having heard from KGI analyst Ming-Cho Kuo that he expects Apple to start production of a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display this September, in preparation for an October launch in stores. As AppleInsider notes, the very well-respected Kuo is an extremely good source for accurate Apple news, having recently been the first to say (accurately, as it turned out) that Apple intended to discontinue its 17-inch MacBook Pro range, and would be introducing a next-gen 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display alongside its current MacBook Pro range. This, of course, is exactly what happened this week, with Apple’s announcement at WWDC of the new 15-inch Retina display MacBook Pro, so it’s probably safe to say that you can look forward to getting your hands on a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display this October.

13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display confirmed for Apple event

Alongside the smaller iPad, Apple will debut a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, according to a consistently reliable source at a high-profile U.S. retailer.

This new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina Display is said to pick up the thinner and lighter enclosure of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display that was released in June.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro will be sold in two configurations, with differing processors and storage, and will be available for purchase soon after introduction.

Like with the 15-inch MacBook Pro lines, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will be sold (at a higher price) in addition to the current non-Retina display model. That computer was updated with faster processers and USB 3.0 in June.

The current 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display is codenamed D2, and its smaller sibling is in fact, as predicted this morning, dubbed D1 internally.
