Apple’s new MacBook Pro can power 3 extra external monitors

Each day brings news of other amazing features the new Retina Display MacBook Pro can support. Today we talk about its two Thunderbolt ports plus an integrated HDMI that can apparently work together and send video to three external monitors.

A team at Other World Computing decided to put the brand new laptop to the test and connected it to two other iMacs plus an LG monitor. The iMacs were powered via the Thunderbolt ports while the LG monitor via the HDMI port. The original MacBook Pro ran the “best for retina” settings.

All four displays ran smoothly and no problem seemed to arise. No lag was encountered while moving images across the screen for example. A video was also played on the four screens simultaneously. Counting up the pixels the laptop was working with we get a staggering 14.86 million of them!

"Moving images and media didn’t create any lag and we were able to play video on all four displays simultaneously”.
