Apple Ordered to Tell the World Samsung Didn’t Copy the iPad

Bloomberg reports today that Apple has been ordered by a judge in the UK to put a notice on its UK website and in the British press telling people about the recent ruling that Samsung did not copy its designs for the iPad. The judge says that the notice must inform the public about the details of the decision which was given in the London courts on July 9, stating that Samsung’s Galaxy tablets did not infringe Apple’s iPad designs that had already been registered. Judge Colin Birss also stipulated that the notice should stay on Apple’s website in the UK for six months, as well as being printed in various newspapers and magazines. Apple’s lawyer, Richard Hacon, said that this will, in effect, be an advertisement for a Samsung product on an Apple website, adding, “No company likes to refer to a rival on its website.”
