Tests Show Mountain Lion Could be Having Adverse Effect on Battery Life

MacRumors has word today of a story of some concern to those of you who have just installed OS X Mountain Lion on your Mac, which follows on from a story earlier in the week about a thread on the official Apple support boards complaining about poor battery performance after installing the latest version of OS X. According to MacRumors, Ars Technica has been performing some tests on how the new software affects the battery life of a Retina MacBook Pro, and has found that the battery life for the tested MacBook has decreased by 38% from the eight-hour life span that it had initially, with them now only being able to get roughly five hours worth of battery life from the MacBook. The Ars Technica writer, Chris Foresman, said that he was not exactly sure why this should be, despite extensive testing. However, according to one poster on the Apple support forum thread addressing the matter, Apple has a fix in the works which will be issued as an update very soon.
