$60,000 of Personal Possessions and Computers Stolen from Steve Jobs’ Home

9to5 Mac reports today that the late Steve Jobs’ Palo Alto home was broken into on July 17, with more than $60,000 worth of computers and personal items stolen. The theft was announced by Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery, who is part of the high-tech crimes unit, according to the Mercury News, which broke the story. On August 2, 35-year-old Kariem McFarlin was arrested in connection with the crime on one count of residential burglary and selling stolen property, and he is now in jail on $500,000 bail. If found guilty, McFarlin could be imprisoned for a maximum of seven years and eight months, according to the Mercury News. He will be going back to court on August 20 to enter a plea. 9to5 Mac notes that it is unlikely that Steve Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell Jobs, and the rest of the family were in residence at the time of the break-in, as it was in the middle of being renovated at the time, and was also surrounded by scaffolding.

I would have thought that place to be a shrine by now. With guided tours and an amusement park...
Nor white, nor black. Just the passionate shades between...
