Mountain Lion OS X Gets iMessage Fix With First Update

AppleInsider reports that Apple has just released the first update for Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.1, which, among other things, includes fixes for iMessage, Migration Assistant, and audio issues with Thunderbolt displays. Apple also says in its release note for the update that it will improve your Mac’s stability and compatibility. As far as specifics are concerned, the update will solve issues with some users being unable to send iMessages, as well as correcting a problem whereby Migration Assistant has been suddenly quitting. The full list of fixes is included in the release notes when you download the update, which is available via the Mac App Store, or from Apple Support as a manual installer. It has been rumoured this week that OS X 10.8.1beta versions were dramatically improving battery life when it was installed on MacBooks, but there is no word as yet as to whether or not this has also been noted in the version of the update that was released today.
AppleInsider notes that Apple has also this week invited developers to start testing OS X 10.8.2.
