New FreedomPop iPod case features 4G capabilities

Accessory maker FreedomPop has just released a brand new iPod touch case called Freedom Sleeve Rocket. The case, however, has a little surprise stored for users – they will grant buyers 4G capabilities that run on the Clearwire WiMAX network. The first 500GB of data comes for free but for those craving more will have to pay up to 10$ per GB. The Freedom Sleeve Rocket is compatible with third and fourth generation iPod Touch units.

We have to admit the case’s aesthetic look isn’t its best feature. The Sleeve Rocket is just made up of some bulky plastic that will enhance the size of your iPod. This very plastic should convert the WiMax single into Wi-Fi. The device will give you between six and eight working hours of Wi-Fi before it will shut down.

The cases sound like a good idea especially for the younger customers who might not have enough finances to purchase an iPhone or an iPad. Even so, coverage might prove to be an issue especially since it is known that Clearwire doesn’t cover a whole lot of areal. Even so, iPhone users are currently outside the circle of free WiMax data even if the devices that will help make the transition are in the process of being produced. The iPhone cases are expected to be launched by FreedomPop somewhere before the first days of December.
