Diablo III Will Be Released Simultaneously on Mac and PC

Blizzard Entertainment have just released lots of new artwork, screenshots and fresh details all about the long, long awaited release of Diablo III on Mac. Although Blizzard have yet to pinpoint a release date, saying that they intend to take as much time developing the game “as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players,” they have confirmed that the game will be released simultaneously on Mac and PC, which is great news for Mac gamers. Blizzard say that they intend this latest incarnation of the revered Diablo series to be the “definitive action role-playing game, and a true continuation of the Diablo series.”

The game will see players adventuring through rich and varied settings, unravelling an epic storyline, and engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and challenging bosses as they grow in experience and ability and acquire items of great power. Blizzard say that the fans can expect the same easy interface, fast-paced action and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect from a Diablo game. But, as technology has moved on so much since Diablo II, players can also look forward to many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level.

The new game will feature five distinct classes from which the player can create a male or female character – barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, or demon hunter – each of who will be equipped with various spells and abilities. New customisation options will provide for an even greater level of character specialisation than previous Diablo games.

The storyline picks up the action 20 years on from the last game, as players return to Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy, which was saved 20 years previously from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Fans of the series will recognise familiar places in Diablo III, including Tristram and other locations from the earlier games, and familiar characters such as Deckard Cain.

Blizzard also reveals that Diablo III is powered by a new graphics engine that can display characters and hordes of monsters in lush, fully 3D environments. Powerful special effects and physics systems make for realistic object dynamics and cloth simulation, for truly spectacular action.

The game will be online-only, according to Blizzard, as it was built from the ground up to take advantage of the new version of Blizzard’s Battle.net platform.

I’m sure that Diablo fans are chomping at the bit for this one, and great to hear that they won’t have to wait to play the Mac version!

They've basically got rid of illegal gold farming and made it profitable for themselves. They have auction houses where you can buy in-game items for real money. I think all RPG's should do this. Not only does it make the company more profitable but it helps the players not get hacked/scammed etc. I don't play Diablo personally, and I have played a bit of WoW, I used to be more of a RuneScape player and I know how easy it is to get both hacked and scammed on that bad game.

I despise the idea of wasting real money on an in game item. Its just a waste of hard earned money.

Yeah for virtual goods it does seem a bit sad, but some people are desperate and mix up their virtual lives with their real ones.

Diablo is one of those games where you can trade with people to get better weapons. Also there is virtually an unlimited combination for weapons stats plus the ones with sockets so that makes you combinations almost infinite.
