Did You Know That Lion Has a Hidden Wi-Fi Monitoring Tool?

MacWorld has a very interesting and helpful tip today courtesy of one of its readers about a wireless network diagnostic feature that is hidden away in the latest Mac OS X, Lion. Although, as Macworld says, a lot of the information provided by the tool is fairly technical, some of the information could still be very useful to Mac owners, whatever their level of technical prowess. According to MacWorld, the Wi-Fi Diagnostics tool is located in the /System/Library/CoreServices folder, and you can get there by pressing Shift-Command-G in the Finder (which it says is the same thing as selecting Go to Folder in the Go menu) and entering the following command: /System/Library/CoreServices and pressing Return. You should then be able to locate Wi-Fi Diagnostics in the folder, which you can then of course double click to launch. Macworld says that the features provided by the tool are 1) Monitor Performance (including signal strength, noise level, transmit power and data rate), 2) Record Events (to keep a log of network events), 3) Capture Raw Frames (records everything into and out of your Macís Wi-Fi connection, and 4) Turn on Debug Logs (self-explanatory!). So there you are: Lion, the gift that keeps on giving!
