Using My Photo Stream in iPhoto v 2.0

I want to clean up the photos on my iPhone and store many of them on my iMac. However, I have Photo Stream turned on on the iMac and a great many of my iPhone photos are showing up there and NOT as photos on the iPhone when I manually connect the iPhone to the iMac. I would like to import the photos onto the iMac before deleting them from the iPhone, but I cannot see a way to do this. A friend suggested right clicking (or Control-clicking) a photo or group of photos in My Photo Stream and then using the Import function in the menu that comes up. However, in v2.0 of iPhoto that menu does NOT have the Import option on my iMac! So, how do I import these photos to the iMac for storage?

Second question. If I were to disable My Photo Stream on the iMac only, would the Mac then recognize all the pictures it currently designates as in My Photo Stream, and that are actually still on my iPhone, as eligible for upload when I connect my iPhone to the Mac?

Could you possibly post some screenshots so we can see exactly what is going on?

Thanks! I think I've got this figured out. A friend in another forum verified for me that in Photos 2.0 pictures imported via My Photo Stream were actually also saved in All Photos. So, unlike on a mobile device where I need to manually save pictures from Photostream to my Camera Roll that did not originate on my device, on the Mac all Photo Stream pictures ARE saved automatically. This really is quite a good feature for me as I want my Mac to host all my pictures. (Not using a cloud service.) now I feel comfortable deleting a great many pictures from my phone, knowing that I have them backed up on the Mac.
