    opening email attachments

    Quick question, I have received email attachments with .xls, .pps, .exe, and .doc and when I open them all I get are symbols. Recently had the hard drive replaced. Any suggestions for fixing my problem? I could open all of them before the hard drive was replaced.

    Do you have MS Office installed? All of those file types (except exe) are Office files (Excel, Word etc). iWork apps will open them too. The exe files are executables and as such are binary so may well just show symbols if you try to 'open' them.
