I think I have worked out what's going on...it's now on 36gb of 215gb. So does that mean it's cleaning up all 215 gb and is it actually wiping all the old backups to start again ?....also can I use the mac while this goes on cause it's going to take quite some time :-(

Thanks Jezz, it has done its thing...It wiped some of the backups because it ran out of space so my earliest backup is now Oct 2013, which is ok I think ! ....I can't think why I would want to go back further ( unless Im missing something) anyway all is good.

Now when someone calls you (Tested with my husband ) , even if you had a full screen picture set for that contact , it will now show a small round icon in the upper right near the name 😩
I had made full screen photos for most of my contacts ! I have tried resetting a photo but it doesn't work 👎 Now I need my glasses when the phone rings !!!
