How to load my contacts on my iPad with a csv file of my contacts form another device

I had a PALM which has currently died but was able to export my backup from my desktop into an excel csv file format. Can anyone tell me how I can now load this csv file into my iPad instead of having to type all the information contained in the csv file? Please be clear as to how to get this accomplished. Please keep one other thing in mind I really do not want to go through the iCloud but any other way I would be very thankful.

    Thanks in advance,

    Les

The only option I could find if you do not want to use iCloud, is this 3rd party app:

Contacts In : Import CSV & Manage Groups by Dmitry Kalmykov
    https://appsto.re/gb/tuTWG.i

Unfortunately it's for the iPhone, so whilst it should work on the iPad, you will probably get the little iPhone screen in the middle of your iPad. It is also not free, so I wasn't prepared to give it a go before I recommended it!!

Thank you so much for your help. I see this was designed for importing into the iphone but agree with you it should work going into the ipad. Listen I also found the following app and was wondering if you could be kind enough to take a look at it to see if perhaps it is designed for the Ipad. Just trying to be safe here <S>. Its called Import and Export Contacts and it is by Beach House Software. (BTW I have not been able to track it down)

    Thx,

    Les

Ok, the website for this company doesn't make any mention of the app in question. It's possibly defunct as an app.

It is an iPhone app, so you need to go to the App Store on your iPad and install it from there.

If you can see it on your iPad just tap the icon and away you go! After that I am afraid you are on your own, because it is not an app I have ever used.

If you haven't installed it on you iPad via syncing, then no you will not be charged again if you need to redownload it. Open the App Store on your iPad, and click the 'Purchased' option on the bottom and you should see the app listed there. Click the little 'Cloud it an arrow' symbol to download and install the app.

    Hi JP,

Well I do see it on my iPad but when I tap the icon 2 buttons show up one which is import the csv file which is what I want but it totally is non-responsive when I tap the button. It shows it gets depressed but that's it. I am thinking I am probably doing something wrong. Inside iTunes I can see my csv file but perhaps I am missing something. Is there any body to speak to that may be able to guide me with the csv file? I am thinking although it shows up in iTunes it doesn't seem to be able to be detected on my iPad. JP is it possible that although the app shows on my iPad that it really isn't totally deployed on the app and that its only showing me the apps I have downloaded to iTunes? Just my 2 cents. I am stuck.

    Thx,

    Les

Sorry Les, but as I said I have not used the app myself so I'm afraid I am unable to guide you as to how it works. There are instructions on this site here:

Import CSV file to iPhone: User Instructions | Import contacts to iPhone

    Hope that helps.
