50% Of iPad 3 Owners Are Mad That Apple Released The iPad 4

Over 45% of iPad owners are a little upset that Apple announced the iPad 4 on Tuesday. Even though the iPad 4 is a small spec bump, the iPad 3 has only been on the market for six months, making some iPad 3 owners feel like they got screwed out of having the latest and greatest iPad.

Toluna QuickSurveys conducted a study involving 2000 iPad owners, and they discovered that 50% of iPad 4 owners are upset about the launch of the iPad 4, followed by 45% of iPad 2 owners and 40% of first-generation iPad owners being upset as well.

We conducted our own poll immediately following the keynote – which we’ve reposted at the top of this article – and were surprised to find that as of writing this, 5,164 out of the 9,194 iPad 3 owners were mad that there iPad 3 is now “obsolete”

The announcement of the iPad 4 came as a shock to many, even though the iPad 4 is just a small spec bump that gives the iPad the processing power of the iPhone 5 and a Lightning connector. Other than that, the iPad 3 and iPad 4 are indistinguishable.

Toluna QuickSurveys also found that consumers are ready to purchase the iPad mini. 15% of those surveyed said they will definitely buy the iPad mini, while 32% said they will “probably buy it” and 21% said they will purchase the iPad mini as a holiday gift.

So this begs the question. Is there a market for upgrades? Meaning do you think people would pay to have the CPU updated? Or memory added? Could apple make revenues on this? Is it possible?
Or is it a dumb idea.
