    Battery percentage in status bar?

I just bought a new iPod Touch (5th ten I think) from Best Buy. And, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to enable the battery percentage to display in the status bar. I have it on my iPad mini 2 and my iPhone 5s, but I can't seem to find it on the latest iPod Touch. The device is fully updated (iOS 8.1.2). Can someone teach me how to do this?

I do think the only way to get a battery percentage is to either jailbreak it or get a third party app like Battery Magic Elite, which there are many more to chose from in the iTunes store..

Well, that would explain my difficulty in finding the solution. Thank you.

I probably shouldn't worry about it too much. I am getting over 32 hours per charge on my iPhones, so this iPod Touch should get at least that since it isn't doing anything with cellular service.
