    Unhappy Slow running MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro, less than two years old. It is running so slow there is a lag on the mouse and I cannot use it to access anything. Is there a short cut to a diagnositic tool within the operating software, or a restore? Thanks.

Hi Phoebe, and welcome to the forums. The first thing I would try is resetting the NVRAM/PRAM as outlined in this Apple article :

    About NVRAM and PRAM

If that doesn't help matters then get back to us and we can try and think of something else.

    Hi phoebe,

A MacBook Pro is running slowly due to any or all the below reasons:
    • Personal habits
    • Hardware
    • Software/App
    • Operating systems

Now, they are further divided into various sub-parts:

    Personal habits:

1.Too many login items in beginning
2.Too much data stored on desktop
    3.Too many apps open simultaneously
    4.Dashboard have too many widgets

    1.Failing hard-drive
    2.Outdated graphics card
    3.Low memory storage
    4.Outdated processor

    1.Cache data in web-browser
    2.TimeMachine backup in progress
    3.Virus infection
    4.Apple mail crash

    Operating system:
    1.Using outdated OS
    2.Loaded notifications
    3.Corrupt firmware
    4.Spotlight indexing issue

Now, you can easily check your problems and solve the issue with the help of a 3rd party Mac Cleaning Software.
