How can I find out what year my iMac was manufactured? Would it be in my hardware review in About This Mac?

If you plug that serial number into a website like : Lookup Mac Specs By Serial Number, Order, Model & EMC Number, Model ID @ EveryMac.com ; you will be told your machine is a Late 2009 model.

OnyX 3.2.0 is now available for Sierra. Dump your old versions.

Late 2009 iMac 21.5. Anyone with that model using High Sierra OS?

I upgraded from Sierra to High Sierra (HS) when it first came out and had some problems that would lock up the system, so I went back to Sierra. Now I am having problems with loading System Preferences.

The Apple Senior Advisor (Mathew) worked with me this past weekend to solve the problem, with no success. We used Activity Monitor and when I opened System Preferences and clicked on Network the CPU Load graph went to the top of the chart. We dumped a ton of unused app and retried with no improvement.

Mathew stated that when I upgraded to HS and dropped back to Sierra, there may have been remnants of HS left in the operating system. One option was to reload HS and see if the problem still exists. A second option was to leave the system as it is and not use the System Preferences.

    Any thoughts from users?

    Thanks,

    Dean
