    OS High Sierra/FileVault Problem

Hi, running 10.13.6 on a mid 2011 MacBook Air and canít get FileVault to turn off. The button is greyed out in System Preferences. Iíve tried Terminal but just get the reply that it hasnít turned off. Terminal returns the status that FileVault is on but there is no progress bar displayed in System Preferences.

Time Machine is unable to backup as it sees FileVault running. Can I still recover from Time Machine?

Is there any way I can get reset Time Machine without a new install? A lot of my software is legacy and no longer available to download.
