Well in mail it's self the server returned an error the connection to host pop.mail.yahoo.com on port 995 failed. Then in system pref the notice drops down to enter password when I put it in it says unable to verify account name and password....

If you have pop 995 sometimes it takes imap 993, but don't quote me 100% on that though...
I also don't think you need plus either, but zI was wrong in my life once or twice...
After you have signed up for Yahoo! Mail Plus, add a new email account to your email program with the following POP and SMTP settings:
Yahoo! Mail POP server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
POP port: 995
POP TLS/SSL: yes
POP user name: Your My Yahoo! ID
POP password: Your My Yahoo! password
Yahoo! Mail SMTP server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
SMTP port: 465
SMTP TLS/SSL: yes
SMTP user name: Your My Yahoo! ID
SMTP password: Your My Yahoo! password
Does 995 timeout??
That's my story, but others out here use Yahoo, I do not use it, just Thunderbird and Mac Mail itself..
Oh, and Hotmail with gmail for junk mail..
You might wanna wait to see what others say about this first before hand...

Thank you Scott for all the info. Was wondering if it's possible to have gmail pick up all my yahoo mail and just use gmail on mac mail. Have had problems a few times with yahoo and mac mail. Is this possible ?

The more I think about it, I'm thinking iCal or iCloud.. Or really iCal...
Try reading this site here: Calendars
VERY, VERY informative, with LOTS of info, you might wanna check down about 20-25 % of the way, it tells you exactly how to do and set-up right...

Yes you can do that in the settings... Self explainatory once you start, it says to add others, gmail, ect....Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

I think I have made progress with my Yahoo and Mac mail not playing together. I went to Safari and signed out of yahoo mail, then signed in again, then opened Mac mail and yahoo was working again. This has happened a few times now and this seems to fix it, but dont know why it keeps happening ? I am beginning to hate Yahoo

I have never liked Yahoo at all. , I think that's where it's made at...
Sometimes when you re-start or reboot your system, it solves the issues, all-be-it, not a fix for good usually though...
