    Airport off No internet connection.

I replaced my hard drive, for a while all was fine , now I cannot connect to the internet, (could previously), get a message that Airport is turned off, tried every direction to turn it on , cannot. I have Verizon that works fine on my other computers(not Macs) . Any help greatly appreciated. Update, re-installed, now have everything but no internet connection. Went to Network, does not list any Wifi , "no service in this location". Went to Internet sharing, got this message "Cannot start Internet sharing, there are no ports available. Choose a different connection to share or turn on another port using Network preferences." Have no idea how to do either. Thanks

So is it an Apple Airport router you are using?

I am using a router that came with my Verizon setup, works on other Mac's, Thanks. Stupid question, will a network adapter work on the Apple network?

If it is just your macbook that is not connecting, I think something might be wrong with the internal wifi card....it is possible something happened when you swapped in the new hard drive. I would suggest you need to take it to an Apple Store to get it correctly diagnosed.

As to your final question, I am not quite sure what you mean by 'network adapter'....are you referring to a USB network dongle? If you are then, I am sure you would be able to find a device that is OSX compatible.

Stupid question, is the wifi a card that can be taken out and installed or is it built in? I actually hooked up a network adapter I had installed in a pc and it gets a signal, problem is, when it reboots I have to go thru a process of signing in the passcode etc. all over again would a network card designed for a Mac work better?
