Help reqd: I think i have knackered my macbook pro 2012

    Hi all.
I am a total newbie to Mac etc. I just got a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. As i got it 2nd hand i wanted to put it back to factory settings. I was attempting the process of hold CMD & F together. I was following some instructions and was a little head of myself and deleted "VOLUME GROUP" then i did something else and now i have nothing but a flashing folder when i hold CMD & F.

    Think i have killed it.
    Any help please.
    Thanks

Why are you pressing command + f ? That is the finder command for locating files in a folder.
You cannot return a MBP to factory settings unless you erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
Try rebooting holding the Command +R keys until you see the Recovery window. From this window you can erase the HDD Using Disk Utility and reinstall the MacOS. BUT all of this should have been done by the previous owner.
    See this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201065
If you did not receive the device with the Setup Wizard on screen when you turned it on then the steps outlined in the attached page have not been followed.
