Macbook pro startup issues

I purchased a Macbook Pro 13" in September 2011. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I have had startup issues. My
machine no longer starts first time and has to be turned off and started again. Then, when opening mail, the icon just
bounces up and down until I do a "force quit". Like the machine, it starts ok the second time. This is happening every time I boot up.

I've gone through verifying disk permissions etc via Disk Utility and I'm told the disks are OK. I do get this message,
however:

Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent” has been modified and will not be repaired.

Any thoughts??
