    Unhappy deleted private folder in os x lion

    Hello. I accidently deleted the private folder in os x lion. I have tried using terminal to move it out of recycle bin but no luck. Could someone please share some insight as to how i can resolve this. Thanks.

    Which private folder is this? What does it contain?

    Hi. The private folder contains contents of the OS.

    Do you have a full Time Machine backup?

    OK, so what exactly happens when you try to restore the content using Terminal? Is there an error message? If you open the trash can you see the deleted folder or is it 'hidden'?

    I entered the following command in terminal:

    cp -rf /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"/Users/username/.Trash/private /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"\
    

    When i enter this command the reply comes as: "My name": No such file or directory.

    My mbp gets hanged up on the gray screen with the apple logo so you see i cant access the trash.
