320GB hard disc out of MacBook Pro for late 2007 black MacBook

There's a Hitachi 320GB 2.5 laptop hard drive out of a MacBook Pro at auction on e-bay which I'd like to put into my late 2007 black MacBook. Does anyone know if it will fit and work OK?

    Depends..

My personal guess, no.. but, known to be wrong like everybody else.

Exactly what model H.D. is the Hatahi??

but need more info, or maybe someone else out here is in the more...

If ya want it just for back/ups, carbon copy cloner works well, Or even Time Machine. More info would be best.

At a guess it would have to be to be a 'thin' 9.5mm rather than a 'thicker' 12mm drive...as Scott said, we really need a bit more info. My other question would be why buy a second hand drive with all the potential pitfalls of it failing quite soon, when a new drive would only set you back around £40

    Apologies...

Yes, sorry, I should have given more information immediately. From the picture of it I can see the following: first numbers on the right-hand side towards the top of the drive - NL3508 E182115 T; beneath that is a line of smaller, fainter letters and numbers which I can't really made out; next line down - HDD 5K500 B-320; next line - HTS 545032895A02 5400RPM; next line - 5V 700mA DC 320GB SATA; next lines - MADE IN THAILAND BY Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Thailand) Ltd TD, AUG-10; Apple HDD Firmware 2009 320GB 2.5inch AT 9.5mm; P/N 0A78253 MLC 0A335); next line (underneath last number on previous line - A141221; last line - 320GB PTBFS 655-1539D*IX0340JEMDWMA*. I suspect "P/N" is the part number and probably the only or most relevant thing here, isn't it?

My MacBook is, already stated, a late 2007 black one, I believe it's designated, 'MacBook C2D 2.2 13 SR B - 'Santa Rosa', because System Profiler shows Bus Speed of 800MHz, as opposed to 667MHz for previous models. Is this drive (above) right for it?

Why not spend £40? Because i don't have forty pounds. Excuse me, please, I'm poor.

Looks like you can upgrade the hard drive in your MacBook, upto 750GB:

MacBook Core 2 Duo Hard Drive Replacement - iFixitIt will need to be a 9.5mm thick model as I suspected, and looking at the P/N you provided for the drive, it is indeed of that specification...so you are in luck.

My apologies, but your post didn't make clear your financial predicament I was only trying to help by pointing out that buying second hand computer parts can sometimes be a false economy.
