Spectacular Star Wars Episode VII pics appear online

The nerdgasm is strong with this one!

TMZ has somehow managed to get hold of an epic 45 image gallery of pictures from Star Wars Episode VII, that will make long time Star Wars fans very, very happy indeed.

We knew previously that JJ Abrams planned to use physical puppets as part of his next generation Star Wars saga, but these pictures cement that hope, showing (among other things) a giant pig-like creature reportedly manned by 5 puppeteers. There’s also black smoke, dirty looking peasants, and worn-out and battered old equipment — all bringing to mind the look and feel of George Lucas’ superb original trilogy. Compared to the overly polished and CGI’d prequels, this far closer resembles the Star Wars most of us fell in love with — and all the better for it!

The first movie in the series is set out to return to theaters on December 18, 2015. For now, however, feast your eyes on the images below — and then visit TMZ to see the rest of the collection.

Oh, and spare a thought for the person who leaked the photos, who has presumably been tossed into a sarlacc pit by now.

A huge batch of alleged Star Wars VII concept art has been released

On Wednesday, a flood of new concept art from from the much-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII hit Reddit like a lightsaber cutting through a spaceship door.

News about Star Wars: Episode VII has been pretty hush-hush, but then Flickering Myth put up a bunch of concept art that is supposedly from the sequel, and the art looks like it’s influenced heavily by the original trilogy.

In addition to these images, this picture said to be of the new Darth Vader’s helmet was also posted to Imgur on Wednesday:

The images appear to be legitimate, but one must never underestimate the length Star Wars fans may be willing to go in order to mess with your brain.

Head over to Flickering Myth, to get the full batch of these photos. They could be spoilers, so you’ve been warned.

Star Wars episode VII’s official title has been revealed

Principal photography has officially wrapped for the much anticipated Star Wars Episode VII sequel, and to celebrate the crew has revealed the movie’s official title as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled to release in 2015 and director J.J. Abrams has said he’s tried to bring the classic Star Wars feel back to franchise. The plot for the movie has been a closely guarded secret, but we have seen glimpses of the Millennial Falcon on set, and it features Luke, Lea and Han Solo.

The working subtitle of episode VII was rumored to be “The Ancient Fear” but we like the sound of The Force Awakens much better.

Watch the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens right now

This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for: The first 90-second trailer of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While the new trailer will be available in theaters starting today, it’s also just been posted over at Apple’s iTunes movie trailers page. You’ll need QuickTime to watch it, of course, so make sure you either have it installed or just open it up in Safari.

As for the trailer itself, it teases an “awakening” in both the dark side and the light side of The Force, which isn’t too surprising given the film’s title. We’re also treated to a fancy new light saber model, several iconic x-wing fighters and the Millennium Falcon soaring through the air.

The movie, which just wrapped up filming, will release in December 2015 and will feature old favorites from the original films such as Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. Details of the film’s story have been kept under very tight wraps, although it obviously takes place after the fall of the Empire in Episode VI and will involve older versions of the original Star Wars trilogy’s heroes.

We’ve also included some of our favorite screen caps from the trailer below for any people out there who are unable to watch the video itself.
