Logitech Announces New Harmony Touch Remote Control [Video]

Remote controls continue to be the bane of our very existence, but one company that continually works to make them better is Logitech, who is announcing its latest touch-based model this week.

Logitech has announced the company's latest remote control product, the Harmony Touch. Priced at $249, the remote promises to blend the best parts of a touchscreen device with traditional hardware buttons.

"Touch-screens have changed the way we interact with technology, and today’s home entertainment calls for interaction that goes beyond the standard remote control," the blog notes. "In response, we’ve rethought the remote, keeping what you love while elevating the touch experience and personalization.

"The Logitech Harmony Touch combines luxury and convenience, giving you ultimate control over your entire home-entertainment system," the post continues. "It features a simple, streamlined design and a touch-screen that lets you smoothly swipe and tap your way to your favorite entertainment options, including one-touch activities such as 'Watch TV' and 'Listen to Music.' Channel icons and numbers for your favorite networks are automatically provided based on your location and TV service provider, and you can add, remove and organize your favorites right on the remote. You can also edit your activity settings, such as inputs and delays, as well as the order of your activities and commands on the remote screen."

Compatible with 225,000 devices across 5,000 different brands and capable of controlling up to 15 different devices, the Logitech Harmony Touch features a rechargeable battery and uses the existing MyHarmony.com website for quick setup.

According to Engadget, the Harmony Touch is already showing up in retail stores, so if you're ready to drop $249 to "rethink your remote," you might want to venture out of your home and see if you can find one.
