Tickets for Apple’s WWDC Sell Out in Two Hours

9to5 Mac reports that no sooner had Apple announced the date of this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) as June 11, they promptly went and sold out of all of the $1,599 tickets in just two hours flat! As usual, the conference will take place at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. There has been talk that Apple will take the opportunity of the WWDC to announce the next iPhone, but it has to be said that’s fairly unlikely. What is most definitely going to happen at the conference, however, is a new scholarship program for young developers, aged 13 and upwards. In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship, you must be a current member of the iOS Developer Program, iOS Developer University Program, or Mac Developer Program; be a full or part-time student; and provide proof of enrolment from your school.

According to Apple, the five-day conference will enable developers to learn more about the future of iOS and OS X, and help them to build the next generation of apps. It will include more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers, as well as the Apple Design Awards, which showcase the most outstanding apps from the past year.

“We have a great WWDC planned this year and can’t wait to share the latest news about iOS and OS X Mountain Lion with developers,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “The iOS platform has created an entirely new industry with fantastic opportunities for developers across the country and around the world.”
